Computers and E-mail Usage Policy

Computers, computer files, the e-mail system and software furnished to Associates are City Furniture property intended for business use. Associates should not use a password, access a file, or retrieve any stored communication without authorization. To ensure compliance with this policy, computer and e-mail usage may be monitored.

Associates are not permitted to purchase, install or remove any software or computer equipment.  City Furniture will maintain a detailed asset inventory and software licensing to ensure warranty end copyright compliancy.

City Furniture strives to maintain a workplace free of harassment and sensitive to the diversity of its Associates. Therefore, City Furniture prohibits the use of computers and the e-mail system in ways that are disruptive, offensive to others, or harmful to morale.

The display or transmission of sexually explicit images, messages, and cartoons is not allowed. Other such misuse includes, but is not limited to, ethnic slurs, racial comments, off-color jokes, or anything that may be construed as harassment or showing disrespect for others. E-mail may not be used to solicit others for commercial ventures, religious or political causes, outside organizations, or other non-business matters.

City Furniture will make every effort to prevent the delivery of external unsolicited e-mails to our Associates.  Associates should not open, forward, print or reply to external unsolicited e-mails.  Associates must immediatly delete any e-mail from an unknown source that reaches their inbox. If a virus infection is suspected, Associates must inform the IT Help Desk immediately.

Telecommuters and mobile users must perform due diligence to protect laptops, personal computers, mobile computers and software in their possession from improper use.  Telecommuters and mobile users are not authorized to disable or modify the setting of virus and firewall software installed on their machines.

Associates should notify their immediate Supervisor, the Human Resources Department or any member of management upon learning of violations of this policy. Associates who violate this policy will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
